The Lollo Rosso lettuce is special because of its reddish-brown leaves. It looks great combined with other lettuces or simply as a decoration for sliced meat platters, cheese platters, sandwiches. Its advantage over head lettuce is that it retains its freshness for longer thanks to its harder leaves.

Wash thoroughly before use, then dry the leaves with paper towels (or a salad spinner). Pour the dressing - which should be lighter, with olive oil, yogurt, rather than mayonnaise - over the salad just before serving, so that the salad does not wilt.

Lollo lettuce is rich in minerals, and its calcium, magnesium and iron content is outstanding. The beta-carotene responsible for its colour (which is a provitamin of vitamin A) strengthens the immune system, protects against cancer and respiratory diseases, and contributes to the health of the gums, skin and hair. It also has a significant content of B1, B2, niacin, B6, C, as well as Na, K, P.
