Columbia Decaf whole bean coffee - medium
Coffee is believed to have arrived in Colombia in 1723, probably thanks to the Jesuits, and by the 18th and 19th centuries it had completely taken over the country, so much so that in 1912 Colombia accounted for half of the world's total coffee exports. Today it is the third largest coffee producer in the world, after Brazil and Vietnam. It is no coincidence that Colombia has become one of the homes of coffee, as its climate and topography make it perfect for growing coffee. The mineral-rich growing areas of Huila County, home to the Nevado del Huila volcano, which lies in the path of the Andes mountain range, and the microclimate of the area contribute greatly to the cultivation of balanced and sweet coffees with a dynamically acidic taste.
How does coffee become decaffeinated?
The coffee is decaffeinated by the Bremen-based company CR3 - Kaffeeveredelung. CR - 3 is one of the leading providers specializing in the processing of green coffee. The decaffeination process for this coffee is the patented Natural Liquid Carbon Dioxide Decaffeination Process: The raw coffee beans are moistened with pure water and then treated with high-pressure liquid CO2, which is extracted from a natural source in northern Germany. This process is repeated until the desired minimum caffeine level is reached. The coffee is then dried in dryers until it reaches its original moisture content.
Decaffeination with CO2 is a completely natural process that best guarantees the preservation of the original aromas and flavours.
The taste of Colombia Decaf includes fruity sweetness and chocolatey notes.
