Ritter Sport Marzipan Filled Dark Chocolate
A noble combination of marzipan (44%) made from sweet Californian almonds and a hint of bitter almonds and dark chocolate.
Producer information
The history of Ritter Sport began in 1912, when Clara Göttle and Alfred Eugen Ritter founded the Swabian family confectionery business in Bad Cannstatt, Germany.
The first joint chocolate brand was Al rika, which was so popular that a new factory was needed by 1930.
Clara Göttle and Alfred Eugen Ritter opened their next plant 20 km further down, in Waldenbuch.
The real milestone came in 1932, when Clara's idea led to the creation of the unique shaped bar of chocolate, consisting of 4 x 4 small squares, which was named Ritter Sport.
Their success has been unbroken ever since, and the company has now expanded internationally, while still remaining family-owned.
Today, the third generation Alfred T. Ritter and his sister, Marli Hoppe Ritter export the colourful little squares to more than 80 countries.
