Product information:
The olive tree was first cultivated on the island of Crete in 3500 BC.
It is estimated that there are currently 865 million olive trees in the world, covering a total of 9.6 million hectares.
Although both green and black olives grow on the same tree, they have very different nutritional content due to different processing methods.
Green olives are much higher in salt, while darker olives contain more oil.
Suggested use:
Olives are a very important part of a healthy diet, as they are full of healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. Olives play a major role in Italian, Spanish and Greek cuisine. They are also excellent for seasoning.
Olives can be eaten on their own, for example grilled or sprinkled with salt.
Thanks to their unique flavour, they are an excellent addition to pizzas, sauces and fish dishes.
