Product description
Typical traditional Slovak specialty. It is made in the traditional way, by grinding sheep's cheese. It has a fine-grained texture, a spreadable consistency, a slightly spicy sheep's cheese flavour and a pleasantly delicate aroma.
Suitable for preparing cold and hot dishes, vegetable, pasta and potato dishes, but can also be served as a delicacy with appetisers paired with beer or wine.
Producer information
Mountain farming and sheep breeding have been linked to Červený Kameň since the village was founded. Every household bred sheep, some farms had as many as 10. Around 6-8 kg of cheese was produced from the milk of one sheep in 6 months. In 1927, the first cooperative was established in the village, uniting 40 farms. The equipment in the dairy was operated manually, the centrifuge was driven by steam from a wood-fired boiler. The dairy processed 300 litres of milk per day into butter, curd cheese, bryndza and žinčica. Agrofarma's aim is to preserve the region's bryndza-making traditions, while also implementing new, innovative ideas.
