La Trappe Blond - In 1881, Trappist monks from the Sainte-Marie-du-Mont monastery in France founded a new abbey on Dutch territory, near the city of Tilburg, where they began farming the land called "Koningshoeven" or "royal farm" by the locals, in accordance with the precepts of monastic life. This is where the golden-coloured Belgian beer with a snow-white head was born.

It is characterised by a spicy, white pepper, coriander aroma. The soft fruitiness continues in the taste, accompanied by a little honey. The sip is closed by a very pleasant, discreet hop bitterness. When we taste it, we can recognise the most important ingredient in it, which is inseparably linked to the monks: this is none other than peace.

At the end of the 19th century, a small group of Trappist monks fled from France to Berkel-Enschot. There, in the heart of Brabant, they found a plot of land with a few cows and a sheepfold. They set up their new home in the former country residence of King William II of the Netherlands - Koningshoeven. They founded a monastery and decided to brew beer. To this day, they fill their lives here with prayer and work, in peace and quiet. 

Koningshoeven became the cradle of La Trappe Trappist. Here, within the abbey walls, Brewery de Koningshoeven produces Dutch Trappist beer. The work is still carried out under the supervision and responsibility of the monks, and it is still their inner conviction that "good must be done": part of the proceeds go to charity. These original principles ensure La Trappe Trappist the exclusive "Authentic Trappist Product" label of the International Trappist Association.
