Caper Berries

Capers are nothing more than the prickly caper bush's tiny, pea-sized flower buds. The bush grows to a height of 1.5 meters and has characteristic, heart-shaped leaves. It has been used for flavoring since ancient times. We can also meet it as caper. Many people like its tart, slightly spicy, characteristic taste.

The caper originates from the Near East, it is cultivated everywhere in the Mediterranean region, it tolerates drought and minor frosts well. In Italy, we can meet it in many places, it also parasitizes in the cracks of houses. The name of the individual caper berry varieties may differ depending on their size.

Suggested use

It goes well with fish, it is also used to flavor ringlets, but it can also be flavored with herring. The braver ones can also mix it into the spread. We can sprinkle it on chicken broth flavored with lemon, but we can also add it to pork or lamb. Its use should not be overdone, as it can suppress the taste of the dish prepared with it.
