Coca-Cola is the most popular and best-selling soft drink of all time, and one of the world's most famous brands. Dr. John S. Pemberton's invention, introduced in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia, was first available at Jacob's Pharmacy's soda fountain, where Coca-Cola syrup was mixed with carbonated water. Coca-Cola's patent was registered in 1887, the brand was trademarked in 1893, and by 1895 it was being sold throughout the United States. In 1899, Coca-Cola began franchise bottling in the United States, and in 1906 international bottling began.

About the brand

In 1886, Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton created the syrup that would serve as the basis for the world-famous soft drink.
