Quarantine Guide Kifli-style

In the current situation, everyone contributes to the community by spending time at home and trying to complete as many tasks online as possible. Voluntary quarantine does not necessarily mean giving up: you can get everything you need online. We are now helping with a basic kit that you can confidently supplement with your favorite, usual products.

Basic food items

The basic set mostly includes non-perishable foods: long-life milk, butter, salami, sausage, frozen vegetables and frozen meats, canned drinks, syrups, flour, cooking oil, sugar, salt. It is advisable to regularly supplement the basic set with smaller quantities of perishable products during the time spent at home, paying attention to consuming them before their expiration date to minimize waste.

Proper storage method

Many people make the mistake of buying larger quantities of food and then being forced to throw it away due to improper storage methods. To avoid this, it is advisable to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for just one week, or to select more durable fruits and vegetables so that nothing needs to be thrown away. Potatoes, apples, carrots, kohlrabi, onions, or oranges, for example, can be stored properly for a bit longer, so if you shop less frequently, it might be worth prioritizing these over bananas or tomatoes. Among baked goods, there are also those that can be frozen and consumed after thawing, and vacuum-packed bakery products are available that can be baked at home. These last longer, so if you don't want to shop for several days, it is worth creating a stock of these to always have fresh baked goods. A general golden rule is that even during voluntary quarantine, it is worth maintaining your normal lifestyle: the different lifestyles of your acquaintances and friends can be inspiring for a while, but it is important not to introduce drastic changes overnight. Instead, take small steps, introduce one new ingredient, vegetable, or fruit into your diet at a time, so you can achieve a more sustainable lifestyle change and have to throw away less food because the chosen novelty has spoiled by the time you get around to preparing it.
