Quick Dinner with Five Ingredients

Quick Dinner with Five Ingredients

Parents swear by five ingredients that should always be in their household. Once the pantry is stocked with them, they can cook hundreds of different dinners for the whole family in twenty minutes.

No, we won't give you the full recipe down to the gram, because we know that something else is needed for evening cooking: speed and basic ingredients that are regularly brought to you by kifli.hu, and satisfy the tastes of both children and parents. What do we recommend you always keep at home?

Pasta

There is no family without pasta. We are curious how long it has been since a certain manufacturer, who produces fusilli, rigatoni, and spaghetti, has not used this slogan. Almost everyone loves them, from young children to the elderly. What can be made from them? With smoked bacon (or boneless ham), a spaghetti carbonara or “charcoal burner’s pasta,” when the egg is baked instead of creamed. Or, for example, pasta with tomato sauce and cheese – it can be sprinkled with mozzarella or grated gouda, but we can also try spicing it up with a little basil or pine nuts. But pasta can also be baked with vegetables (such as broccoli, spinach, peas, zucchini...), chicken, and tomato sauce. Click for pastas!

Tomato Sauce

We would like to highlight this, as it can be met with great applause at home. Prepare a quick base: fry the onion in high-quality oil, add tomato sauce, a deciliter of broth, a pinch of sugar, salt, and pepper, and reduce by boiling. Stir in cream to make it a cream soup and serve with toast. You can also bake mozzarella, which you can add to the soup with basil. In other cases, red lentils and sliced carrots can also come in handy. The prepared base can also be used as a classic tomato sauce: then you only need the pasta mentioned above, and dinner can soon be on the table. Further ideas for the sauce: sliced olives, roasted minced meat (or meatballs), red lentils, cooked beef. You can also use the base for making bruschetta or pizza. Occasionally, you can prepare this sauce and freeze it, or store it in a jar. Click for tomato sauces!

Canned Tuna

Just put it on butter and bread, or pour it over couscous, and add sliced cherry tomatoes and various spices (cream cheese, a pinch of lemon, and a bit of ground paprika), or it's perfect lightly fried in stuffed peppers with rice... And of course, it's very tasty in salads – with finely chopped colorful peppers and tomatoes, red onions, and black olives (and feta cheese). You can even add boiled eggs. It's excellent with Romaine lettuce and grilled peppers (Did you know that peppers can be grilled on a gas burner or with a blowtorch?) Click for canned fish!

Eggs

Scrambled eggs with onions, bacon, cheese, or chives, or boiled eggs with hollandaise sauce, homemade mayonnaise, toast, minced meat... Just take a look in the fridge, and suddenly a series of recipes may come to mind! The most important thing: don't forget to order eggs regularly! For a more "serious" dinner, try frittata (an omelet baked with sliced potatoes, peppers, or asparagus). Click for eggs!

Cheese

A lot depends on what kind of cheese we have at home. For example, halloumi cheese has a long shelf life, so it's enough to buy it every six months and “pull it out” in emergencies. But we won't be disappointed! Kids love halloumi cheese because of its “squeakiness”. Grill it, add it to salads, or just fry some potatoes with it. Squeeze the cheese, mix it, and put the cheese mixture on puff pastry – this way you can make a savory pie. Or you can make pasta sauce or fondue dip from cheese. You can also put cheese on a tomato pizza base (you can freeze the pizza dough too). Brie and gouda are also popular types of cheese: place sliced cheese pieces on a skewer and enjoy with nuts or grapes. Parmesan has a long shelf life, which is primarily suitable for spaghetti, caesar salad, and pizza. Click for cheeses!
