The history of the Calvo brand began in the Galician town of Carballo, where in 1940 Luis Calvo Sanz founded a small grocery store. Over time, it has become a quality and traditional symbol of the Spanish canning industry.

In order to maintain the family business, Luis Calvo Sanz decided to take the path of innovation. In 1956, he created a revolutionary machine capable of producing 36 cans of tuna per minute. The milestone was a three-pack of tuna in 1986, with which Calvo achieved great success in Europe.
