Lucullus Whole Bay Leaves

Bay is one of the oldest known and widely used herbs. In Asia Minor and the Mediterranean region, it is a wild, but mainly cultivated evergreen shrub or tree, whose leaves (Lauri folium) provide the valuable, characteristic spice. The shiny on top, matt on the bottom, leathery, translucently dotted, entire-edged, lance-shaped leaves are typically spicy and have a slightly bitter taste. They contain essential oil, tannic acid and bitter substances.
