This is how Heineken was born, and soon became the favourite of Amsterdam, and then the whole of the Netherlands. Now, 4 generations later, thanks to our commitment to quality, 25 million Heinekens are raised in a toast every day in 192 countries around the world. Heineken is a lager beer made using special A-yeast, which guarantees the unmistakably harmonious, slightly fruity flavour notes.

The magic star

What is the five-pointed star? The ancient symbol of master brewers. Four points symbolise the natural ingredients: barley malt, water, hops and Heineken's special A-yeast®. The fifth point of the star was a sign of the special magic of brewing in the Middle Ages. Today we no longer believe in magic, but rather in expertise. However, we have kept the magic star.

HEINEKEN Hungária Sörgyárak Zrt. is a key player in the Hungarian market thanks to its more than one hundred years of brewing experience and its internationally recognised brands. Brewing has a long tradition in Sopron. In March 1895, Brno brewery owners and city wholesalers saw the time had come and founded the Sopron factory under the name Első Soproni Serfőzde és Malátagyár (First Sopron Brewery and Malt Factory). In the city that has been involved in viticulture for centuries, the city councillors regulated the sale of beer as early as 1523. According to the decree at that time, the Franciscan friars rang the bell at 8 pm to inform the citizens that no beer would be served after the beer bell had rung.
