Alnatura organic peas and carrots (340g)
Delicious organic vegetable mix made from peas and carrots, which is tasty as a side dish and can be a flavorful ingredient in casseroles, soups or salads. Alnatura peas and carrots are vegan and pre-cooked - just heat them up briefly and enjoy.
Usage - Vegan carrot tortilla

Ingredients
For a 24 cm diameter round baking tray (4 servings):
- 125 g Alnatura chickpea flour
- 230 ml water
- 1 teaspoon Alnatura sea salt
- ½ teaspoon Alnatura grated lemon zest
- ½ teaspoon Alnatura ground turmeric
- 500 g carrots - even from pre-cooked preserves
- 1 yellow onion
- 75 ml Alnatura olive oil
Preparation
- Mix the chickpea flour with the water, salt, lemon zest and turmeric until smooth and let it soak for at least 10 minutes. In the meantime, peel the carrots, cut off the ends and cut the carrots diagonally into 3 mm thick slices. You can also use pre-cooked preserved carrots. Peel and halve the onion, then cut into thin slices.
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat, add the carrots and cook, turning occasionally, but do not brown. (If using pre-cooked preserves, place in the pan with the onion.) Add the onion and fry for 2 minutes - until translucent. Drain the whole thing through a fine sieve and let the oil cool down.
- Mix the carrot and onion slices with the chickpea batter. Put 2 tablespoons of the collected baking oil in the pan and heat over medium heat. Put the tortilla batter in the pan and bake for 8 minutes.
- Place a plate on the pan, turn the pan upside down and let the tortilla slide onto the plate first, then slide the uncooked side back into the pan. Bake for another 6 minutes.
Tips
- Potatoes can be used instead of carrots for the classic tortilla version.
- If you want to make the tortilla the classic way with eggs, instead of chickpea flour, water, lemon zest and turmeric, you can simply beat 5 eggs, mix them until foamy with a little salt, then mix them with the cooled carrot slices and bake.
