Red Bartlett pear
Red Bartlett, better known as "Red Williams", is the brother of Williams, from which it originates, but it is easily distinguishable by the red stripe that covers a large part of its skin.
THE SHAPE AND SIZE OF THE FRUIT
From a botanical point of view, Max Red Bartlett is "elongated" and "flask"-like, just like Williams, with a ratio between the axes of less than 1.5. It is of medium-small size, typically with a maximum diameter between 55 mm and 75 mm.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SKIN RIPENESS, FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE
Max Red Bartlett is easily distinguished from Williams by its red stripe, which extends over a large area of the skin. The colour of the skin is an excellent indicator of the ripeness of the pear, the riper the pear, the more pronounced its colour will be, its skin will change from ruby red to orange red, and the stripes will turn from greenish to yellow. As the pear ripens and the colour of the skin changes, the flesh develops intense aromas and more delicate flavours.
