Ingredients
500 g Schär Bread-Mix, 10 g dried or 15 g fresh yeast, 500 ml lukewarm water, 6 g oil, 1 teaspoon salt.

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the Schär Mix-Pan flour with the dried yeast and add the water. If using fresh yeast, dissolve it in water and pour it into the flour.
  2. Mix the dough with a plastic spoon, add the salt, then the oil little by little.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth (with an electric kneading paddle at medium speed, the time is reduced to 4-5 minutes).
  4. Pour the dough into a greased and floured square baking tin and smooth the top. Cover the tin with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (in about 30 minutes).
  5. Place a heatproof dish filled with water on the bottom of the oven and preheat the oven to 200°C. Brush the surface of the bread with beaten egg, milk or oil to create a golden brown crust.
  6. Bake the bread for about 50 minutes. Do not open the oven door during baking. Remove the finished bread from the tin and let it cool on a wire rack.
