The history of the Aviation cocktail dates back to the stormy years of the First World War, when New York bartender Hugo Esslin created this stunning drink. Esslin's aim was to conjure up the purple colour of the sunset sky in a glass, so he mixed gin with cherry liqueur, crème de violette and squeezed lemon juice. The Opera Cocktail Series Aviation also faithfully follows this recipe. The perfect harmony of Opera Gin, cherry liqueur, violet liqueur, fruit acid and sugar comes to life in this cocktail. The result is a stunning drink with a flavour that is both fruity and floral, slightly sweet yet refreshing.
