Dates Medjool 180g

Dates are oval berries, the Medjool variety is particularly sweet and juicy, and can grow up to 7 cm in length.

They are fleshy, plum-shaped fruits with a smooth, edible brown-red skin, but dried dates are sugary and slightly wrinkled. They are mostly consumed dried to extend their shelf life. They are used daily especially in Arab countries, for example in the form of bread (adšu) or fried in butter. They are used in many desserts, pastries and sweets, and are an excellent substitute for sugary sweets.

Dates are perfect for both children and adults. Sweet syrup, so-called date honey, drips from the fresh, overripe berries of the date. They are especially delicious when filled with almonds, hazelnuts, candied orange peel or marzipan, or when dipped in chocolate.

Medjool dates contain a significant amount of sugar (60-70%), which protects them from drying out in hot weather.
Despite their high sugar content, they do not raise blood sugar levels and help prevent the clogging of arteries. In addition, they are a significant source of potassium, iron and B vitamins. Dates are an important staple food and energy bomb in the areas where they are grown.

One of the oldest cultivated plants in the world, which is also written about in the Bible and the Koran. Originally from North Africa and Western Asia. The large Medjool date is now grown mainly in Israel and California.
