The history of Pepsi Cola began in 1898, when Caleb D. Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern, North Carolina, USA, experimented with various mixtures of carbonated water, sugar, vanilla, cola oils and nuts, and discovered Pepsi-Cola. He named one of the combinations, which his friends liked the most, Brad's Drink. In 1902, the name was changed, and the brand name was derived from pepsin, referring to its medicinal properties.
