What is mould and how can you prevent it?
Mould is something that nobody wants to live with in their home! Mould is actually a microscopic fungus, and it can appear in various forms. It most commonly forms in enclosed spaces where the air is humid and surfaces are damp. There are several types of mould, which a layperson can distinguish based on their colour. The most common type of mould found in households is brown or black, but another type can appear in shades of blue or green. If it is not hidden (e.g. behind wallpaper or furniture), mould often appears as spots on walls, window frames and other surfaces prone to mould.

How can you prevent mould?
Here are a few tips that can help you prevent mould growth in your home:
- Do not dry your clothes indoors. If you have no other option and you dry your clothes on a clothes rack in your home, always ensure good ventilation.
- Even a small amount of heat reduces condensation, helping to keep walls and windows drier. A towel warmer, heated mirror or underfloor heating can be ideal in damp rooms. This will make your home less prone to mould.
- If possible, move bathroom and bedroom furniture a few centimetres away from the walls instead of pushing them right up against them. This will promote air circulation in the areas behind the furniture and prevent condensation and damp walls.

Removing existing mould
While it is important to know how to prevent mould, it is also worth knowing how to remove mould that has already developed in your home. The easiest solution for this is Szavo's special mould removal spray. Most products suitable for removing mould are very strong, so it is important to work with an open window while getting rid of the damp, mouldy contamination. Ventilation helps to alleviate unpleasant odours and also speeds up the drying of the problem areas treated with the chemical.

Only use the product in a well-ventilated area to avoid skin and eye irritation. If you experience any irritation, stop using the product immediately and leave the room until the product has dried. Make sure to cover chlorine-sensitive, non-colourfast materials in the vicinity of the surface to be cleaned. The product cannot be used on non-chlorine-resistant surfaces. It is not suitable for plaster, walls, aluminium, copper, brass, bronze surfaces and painted or varnished wood, fabric. Avoid contact with metal structures and metal tools. Causes serious burns and eye damage. Very toxic to aquatic life. May be corrosive to metals. Warning! Do not use together with other products. Hazardous gases (chlorine) may be released. Keep out of reach of children. Keep in the original container. Avoid release to the environment. Wear protective gloves. Wear eye protection/face protection. Wear protective clothing. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If you feel unwell, call a POISON CENTER/doctor. Collect spillage. Dispose of container in accordance with local waste disposal regulations after emptying. Avoid breathing spray. Contains: Sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide.
