Native to East and South Asia, it is popular all over the world for its flavor-enhancing effects. Some ancient peoples attributed magical powers to it, and in Egypt it was revered as a sacred plant. In our country, it began to be cultivated in the 15th century.
Preparation suggestion
- 100 g peeled garlic
- 70 g butter
- 60 g plain flour
- 1.2 liters of chicken stock
- 200 ml cream, min. 31%
- A pinch of ground nutmeg
- A pinch of white pepper
- Salt
- Cut 100 g of garlic into coarser pieces. Melt 60 g of butter in a pan, add the garlic and fry it while stirring frequently. Add the flour, reduce the heat and cook for 2 minutes while stirring continuously.
- Add the chicken stock, bring to a boil and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Then let the soup simmer for half an hour without a lid. Stir occasionally.
- Add the cream and cook for 1 minute. Carefully blend the soup with a hand blender. Pour the soup into a clean container through a sieve and blend again with the hand blender.
- Peel 2 cloves of garlic and cut into thin slices. Heat the remaining butter in a pan and fry the garlic over medium heat, stirring frequently, until golden brown.
- Serve the soup with the fried garlic.
