Kiwi, originally known as the Chinese gooseberry, grew wild in China. The fruit was brought to New Zealand in 1904 by a schoolteacher who returned from China with seeds. New Zealanders named it "kiwi" after their national bird. Its vitamin and nutrient content may help reduce blood pressure, enhance wound healing, and support digestive health. It is a source of vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber.
Fun fact
Antioxidants — including vitamin C, choline, lutein, and zeaxanthin — help rid the body of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that the body produces as a byproduct of metabolism and other processes.
