The name "Barista" evokes the aroma of steaming coffee. However, its aroma and taste are completed by caramel, cocoa, roasted malt and the "black gold", chocolate. This beer builds bridges between the hot drinks of the world and the cool, frothy alcohol, beer. Its first task is to allow you to enjoy this meeting of flavours all year round, regardless of the season and location. The Kasteel Barista simultaneously features fruity and roasted malt, caramel flavours, in harmony with the taste of coffee and chocolate. This is a great meeting and arsenal of sweet and bitter, coffee, chocolate and marzipan flavours and well-hidden but emphasised alcohol content.

Producer information

The history of the brewing dynasty begins in 1811, in Werken. Amandus Vanhonsebrouck, the mayor of the town, runs a dairy farm, a brewery and a distillery on his farm. Amandus' son, Emil, and his wife move to Ingelmunster, where they continue brewing on their farm in their factory called Sint Jozef. In the 1930s, they manage to expand their factory, and after the Second World War, they start exporting their pilsner-type products. The company was given the name Vanhonsebrouck in 1956, after they start dealing with aged brown beer instead of pilsner-type beers, which is given the name Bacchus. In the 1970s, they start brewing lambic-type beers, and from the 1980s onwards, they start brewing specialty beers. After that, they also start dealing with fruit beers, and in 2015, the chocolate beer was also born. In 2016, they opened their factory building with modern equipment, which is the most modern brewery in the whole of Europe.
