Appel herring fillets in tomato sauce

Herring fillets in a delicious tomato sauce made from sun-ripened tomatoes. Quality herring fillets, suitable for any tomato-based dish.

Suggested use

Ideal for light meals and vegetable salads. Make empanadas with it!

Ingredients

2 cans of herring fillets in tomato sauce, 1 egg, 1 large onion, 2 boiled eggs, 1 tablespoon of chopped capers, 200-300 ml tomato passata, 1 grated carrot, salt, pepper, shortcrust pastry.

Preparation

1. Chop the onion finely, fry it in a pan until glassy, add the grated carrot and fry together. Add the tomato to the carrot and mix thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Cut the herring fillets into approx. 3 cm pieces and keep the canned tomato sauce.
3. Chop the capers and the boiled eggs, then add the herring, the tomato sauce, the chopped capers and the eggs to the pan to the carrot and tomato.
4. Divide the prepared dough into four parts and shape them into round or square empanadas as desired.
5. Roll out the dough thinly, place the filling on it, then close the empanadas and pierce the middle with a knife so that the steam can escape during baking.
6. Brush the empanadas with a beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180ºC for about 30 minutes.

Storage
