Nicaraguan tobacco coffee is one of the most successful recipes of the Cafe Frei coffee chain, not only in Hungary but also in our coffee shops abroad. This coffee brings the spicy, smoky, Latin flavors of Central America into our homes. In Nicaragua, on coffee plantations near where tobacco is also grown, coffee lovers sometimes soak tobacco leaves in juicy grated apple, from which they brew a creamy essence after a day's rest. The freshly roasted coffee beans are tossed into this thick cream so that each bean takes on the exotic tobacco flavor and special aroma.

Preparation suggestion

Make a short, espresso-sized coffee (40 ml) from it. Definitely not a long lungo. The secret to making coffee at home is that the flavors of tobacco coffee are best brought to life by sweetened milk. Therefore, add at least a deciliter of warm, sweetened milk to the brewed espresso.

Cafe Frei was founded by two friends: Tamás Frei, a novelist, former world traveler on television, who has visited more than 150 countries in recent decades and loves coffee and the world associated with it; and Tamás Langár, an economist and food industry entrepreneur, who helps run the network from a business perspective with more than 30 years of experience.

The first CAFE FREI coffee shop opened in Hungary in April 2007, and their coffee shop franchise network has been growing ever since. They have now become the largest coffee shop chain in the country. Thanks to their unique franchise system, 2013 brought them an international breakthrough when they opened their first Central European coffee shops. Since then, they have been operating coffee shops from France to Dubai. Among other things, even in countries considered exotic, such as Saudi Arabia.
