Producer information

George Ballantine founded his business in Edinburgh in 1827. The liquor trade, which continued to flourish in the hands of his sons, was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1903.

In 1919, the family sold their business, and the new owners successfully targeted the US markets as well. Despite the Prohibition, by the mid-1930s, Ballantine's had the best sales network on the East Coast. In the 1960s, the company conquered Europe, and in the 1970s, Ballantine's products were the best-selling Scotch whiskies in the Eastern Bloc. In 2005, Ballantine's became the property of Pernod Ricard.

Today, Ballantine's is one of the world's most famous whisky brands.
