Product description
Parmigiano Reggiano is a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product, which can only be produced in the provinces of Bologna, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Mantua and Parma in Italy. During its maturation period of at least 12, but up to 30 months, the cheese turns a pale gold colour due to the careful attention it receives, its texture becomes grainy and crumbly, and its flavour develops nutty and salty notes. Due to its long maturation period, it is more flavoursome and compact than other hard cheeses. With its intense flavour, it is an excellent accompaniment to pasta dishes, risottos or any other dish.
It can also be consumed by vegetarians.
Producer information
The history of Galbani began in 1882 in a small Italian village in Valsassina, a lush green valley in the Lombard Alps, near the shores of Lake Lecco. This was where Egidio Galbani and his father Davide started making cheese. Galbani invented the first modern version of mozzarella. Over the years, Galbani has become the favourite cheese brand of Italians. Today, it is also available in many other countries, so that everyone can enjoy the Italian way of life.
